Day 3 of the 10 Day CEP Countdown.
So, the day was bound to come… I forgot/didn’t have time to write a post for Day 3. So here I am on Day 2 writing my Day 3 post. Oops!
Today I thought I would do the classic Disney College Program Tag as it’d be an easy way to catch up if you’ve only recently started reading my blog. This tag is aimed at the American College Program Participants but still applies to International Programs too.
So here goes the DCP Tag:
1) How did you hear about the program?
I can’t remember the exact first time I heard about the program but I’m pretty sure I was just researching jobs within Disney and saw it pop up online. Not very exciting but after I found out I knew that as soon as I was eligible I’d have to apply (although I didn’t technically do that as I ended up going to Fiji last year).
2) How was the interview process?
So much fun! As U.K. applicants we initially apply through a company called Yummy Jobs who are the most wonderful team. Pre-screen interviews take place at the end of September and are held at Yummy Jobs HQ in Epping. This is an initial group interview but was so relaxed and I had so much fun. After making it through pre-screens we had final interviews at the Disney HQ offices in Hammersmith. These were one-on-one with a Disney recruiter and I again found it really enjoyable and my interviewer was so friendly. I had a really great time throughout the interview process and made so many friends along the way too.
3) Where were you when you found out you had been accepted?
I didn’t get anything in the first wave of emails and it wasn’t until about a week later I heard. I was sat down about to write a 2000 word essay for one of my uni modules that I had been planning all day. I never plan my essays so I was glad for once I was being organised and then, while making a cup of tea to help me power through my work, I got an email… and it completely disrupted my whole evening of work but for the best possible reason!
4) What is your role?
My role is QSFB (Quick Service Food & Beverage) and I found out the other day that I’m going to be working in Epcot at the restaurant Electric Umbrella.
5) How did you find roommates?
I met Alice, one of the amazing girls I am not only linked to room with but am going to be travelling California with after we finish our program, at pre-screens and since that day we have been texting non-stop. The other two lovely girls I have linked to room with are Bethan & Leah who I met on the CEP Facebook chat. We all got Chatham for our housing so fingers crossed we are all placed in the same apartment as I can’t wait to spend the summer living with these girls.
6) What are you going to miss while on the program?
My dogs mostly (no offence family) and also proper British tea. I also think I’ll miss Jaffa Cakes because I have a bit of an obsession but I am planning on packing a small supply to keep me going in any moments of desperation.
7) What is your favourite Disney Park?
While you really can’t beat the ‘magic’ of Magic Kingdom and it’s classic Disney nature and atmosphere, my favourite park is actually Epcot. When I first visited Disney World in 2016 I absolutely adored Epcot and am so unbelievably excited to have been placed to work there!
8) What is the first thing you want to do?
The first thing I want to do when I get to Orlando is go to Ohana and I am doing just that. A massive group of us have all arranged to go have breakfast at Ohana on the Sunday morning after our first night and I cannot wait!
9) What is the number 1 thing on your bucket list?
It’s probably very stereotypical but I wan to ride every ride at least once. I’ve only been to Disney World once before and we stayed just one week so there is still a lot I haven’t experienced. I am hoping I will be able to ride every ride while I’m on my Program.
10) What is one thing you hope to take away from the program?
Memories to last a lifetime! I know that’s super cheesy but it’s true. I can’t wait to have a summer full of magical experience and magical people and to be able to cherish those memories forever.
So there, that’s the DCP Tag. I hope this wasn’t too boring a poet and I am sorry this is a day late! With the end of the countdown being so close I have been so busy trying to get ready and I still have so much to do! I will be writing a Day 2 post too and with any luck that too will be up later this evening!
